Who is URWLCM?
We are a handful of friends from Stuttgart. Some of us, two to be precise, have been living in Asia for several years and know the culture of wearing a mask in public from their own experience. When the situation with the pandemic became more serious, we decided to go online with this site to establish a reliable source of supply for everyday masks. Wearing a mask helps and is a sign of good behavior, you do it first and foremost for your fellow human beings. Hence the name: URWLCM -> You’re Welcome.
What is the mission?
At URWLCM we’re trying to solve an acute problem: Not enough masks are being worn.
It’s time to face facts: Masks work. The official advice is quite confusing, but the logic is simple: Covering mouth and nose makes sense.
Masks reduce the spread of infectious diseases by capturing particles emitted by the wearer and protecting the wearer from particles in their environment. When we cough, sneeze, talk or simply breathe, we emit a plume of air and droplets, which are largely made up of saliva, mucus, salts and – if we are infected – potentially dangerous particles. The smallest of these droplets, sometimes referred to as aerosols, can float or drift through the air for hours, potentially endangering anyone who enters that airspace.
“You must wear a mask, not only to protect yourself, but also to protect your children and your neighbor.“The man or woman or child who will not wear a mask now is a dangerous slacker.”
– Red Cross, 1918
Change your habits. Make a difference. Do your fellow humans a favor.
I wear it – you’re welcome. #iweariturwlcm.
